Immémoriale is my senior thesis film/capstone project made at Pratt Institute over 15 months from concept to final. It is a love letter to medieval visual culture in which I constructed an origin story for the creation of medieval effigy tombs, with a focus on those commemorating knights. Concurrently, the film reimagines the story of Joan of Arc, positioning a historical female figure within a grand, mythic framework. Its visual language is shaped by a deep archive of reference images, research, and site visits, particularly in Brittany - my family's ancestral region - as well as various other locations throughout France.
At its core, the film wrestles with themes that occupy my thoughts constantly: legacy, fulfillment, and the haunting fear of unrealized potential. "Immémoriale" is not only a story about the memorialization of a knight - it is, in itself a memorial to the rich heritage of art and architecture that has shaped my creative identity.
